Memberships are based on the calendar year so whether you join in January or July, your membership is good through the end of that year and is up for renewal the following January.

You don’t have to be a Member to attend our meetings or our events. Once a Member has been “checked out” by our Port Captain, or has passed one of our sailing courses, our fleet is free to use. We ask that you check out and put away any boat used carefully and in good condition. Members also get to stay in the loop about cruising opportunities, racing at other clubs, and other sialing-related fun.

It depends. NID (Nevada Irrigation District) does not charge participants coming to attend a meeting at the lake. NID does charge their standard fees to anyone coming into the campground/launch ramp/buoy to swim or just picnic. Go to the NID Website to look up fees charged for various activities.

There is a monthly meeting of the Members. We meet at Scotts Flat May through September. The other months we meet somewhere near Grass Valley. Check the recent newsletter to read where and when the next meeting will be held.

We have 9 Sunfish and 2 F-Js stored at our yard at gate two. We also have a Pontoon boat which is used for various events. Read more about our fleet at the bottom of the Sailing page.

Yes. We typically have two junior and one adult sailing class each summer. See the Education page for more information.

No. You can use the Club’s boats or hitch a ride with a member who has a boat.

Any time a member wants to check out a boat, they should contact the Port Captain to arrange availability.

We have had children as young as eight years old who have passed the exam at the end of their sailing class (5 days of instruction) who solo on the lake in Club boats.

Our annual budget is approximately 70% insurance fees, 20% fleet repairs and maintenance, and 10% miscellaneous overhead. There are no paid employees, all Board Members and instructors are Volunteers.

The first brave sailors venture out onto the lake in April. Depending on the weather and lake level, sailing continues until October.

No. But the meetings are a lot more fun with lots of Members participating!
